Off-Site monitoring is an innovative method used to monitor and control business premises via CCTV camera installation. The offsite monitoring solution provides surveillance via a control room, managed by accredited personnel, who monitor the system and provide immediate reaction to all incidents via VoiP public or directed announcement and SMS, while alerting armed response, emergency services and the SAPS, if applicable. Access control may be conducted upon any point of entry via a web interface.
A past limitation to off-site monitoring has been the bandwidth required to properly carry the video images to the control room environment in real time and with high definition. The Cristal Vox or Vox Data Solutions last mile access into customer’s premises resolves this issue, as the mostly uncontended bandwidth required for voice, video or data transmission can be utilized for this service without incurring any additional and separate costs. This is especially relevant for after hours monitoring where Cristal Vox links are under-utilised.
When an alarm is generated (in conjunction with the customer’s requirements – which vary from 24 hour active monitoring to afterhours motion triggers), a live feed to the site is established and recording commences for future reference. Remote monitoring also allows customers to view their installation via web access. Common security related problems such as the high cost and intimidation of on-site guards, collusion by guards in criminal activity and ineffective patrolling are significantly reduced or eliminated.
